What to Do in an Emergency
If you are in immediate danger or feel that you are at risk of harming yourself, it is vital to take action right away:
Call 999 or go to A&E (Accident & Emergency)
If you feel you are at immediate risk of harm, please call 999 or go to your nearest Accident & Emergency department. Emergency services are available 24/7 to provide the help and support you need.
Contact Samaritans
The Samaritans offer confidential, emotional support 24/7. You can call them on 116 123 for free, at any time of the day or night. They are there to listen without judgment and can help you talk through your feelings and find the right support.
Crisis Text Line
If you prefer texting, you can reach out to Text SHOUT by texting "SHOUT" to 85258. This free, confidential text service is available 24/7 and connects you with trained volunteers who can help you manage your feelings and provide immediate support.
Your GP or Mental Health Professional
If you’re not in immediate danger but need help, please get in touch with your GP or mental health professional for guidance. If you have a counsellor or other support, they can offer you resources and a plan for safety.
Ongoing Support
Dealing with suicidal thoughts or self-harm can be incredibly difficult, but there is hope and support available. Counselling, therapy, and various mental health services can offer long-term help. If you’re currently in therapy with me, please know that I’m here to listen and support you as you navigate these feelings, and we can work together on strategies to manage them.
